In an unfortunate turn of events Rapid River Hatchery off the Little Salmon River suffered a loss of 1.2 million hatchery chinook. We hope that this devastating event brings light to how fragile our salmon population has become

A malfunction at the Rapid River Fish Hatchery caused the death of 1.2 million Chinook salmon, risking future fisheries. An investigation into the failure is ongoing

For those of you heading up Big Salmon River Rd or have up coming trips on the Middle Fork or Main, a mudslide is being cleared and currently the road is impassable. Keep an eye on Payette National Forest Service page for updates.
