This is the way.

Multi-wood mosaic of Din Djarin.

Beskar (and whatever his buckles and weapons are made of) in maple.

Leather, wood (rifle stock), and clothing in walnut.

Glove fingertips in cherry.

Cape is basswood with a quickly wiped off stain applied to give the 'fuzzier' appearance.

Shadows achieved with the engraving setting, details done with laser scoring.

Interupted my new halo armor project to try the idea on this.

Thin Blue Line flag with 3D trooper shield engraved. Stars are carved in.

2nd image is unfinished raw wood.

3rd image includes the Gray Rider silhouette, laser cut from 1/8" draft board.

Piece is 30" x 15-7/8" to preserve ratio. Cut on 3/4" maple hardwood. Shield left unpainted for contrast.

Tompkins County, NY road map.

Approximately 12" square on 1/8" maple.

I attempted to make the state highways noticeably thicker than the surface roads and all water features over a certain size have been cut out. No focal point in this one because I didn't make it for anyone specific.

Last image is a before/after of the masking material that keeps my laser from burning the surface of the wood along the path it cuts. A good feature but each block of the map effectively becomes it's own piece which must be removed individually.

A job well done.

The easiest part, arguably the only easy part actually, of all of my carvings is the text (assuming I can spell things like NiagAra correctly).

All wooden shields and badges are available with custom text which has been especially popular for retirements.

Street map of a neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia centered on Spider Kelly's. Customized for the buyer as she and her husband met there in October, 2011.

Attempted a different strength engraving for several of the surrounding buildings to further highlight to focal point.

Made for framing at 11"x14" of 1/8" maple.

Finally upgraded my CNC machine-bed from the MDF board it originally came with. Solid aluminum plates with over 600 threaded holes for clamping bolts. A significant step up from securing everything with 3M poster tape.

Not wood...but whatever.

Can finally post these now that the surprise has been accomploshed.

10" clear acrylic stir sticks with monogram engravings on 1/4" acrylic.

Commissioned as a gift for herself on her 4th anniversary.

Added an un-engraved border as the calligraphy is so fine I was concerned it might be too delicate to function as intended.

Just nicer than scratching out the name on the paper sticker on my locker at work.

Pretty pleased with this new project. Custom order for a "challenge coin holding flag" with some Trooper customizations. Customer chose a black and gray color scheme instead of traditional colors.

I CNC'd the fifty stars and then cut grooves at the bottom of each 'white' stripe. Got some flooring trim with a lip on it and cut to length to act as shelves for the coins.

Was able to use both the CNC and the laser for this. I found a picture of the NYSP "Gray Rider", outlined it and fed the code to the laser. Cut out of 1/8" draft board and painted. Superimposed the silhouette over the stars.

Definately hoping to make some more custom flags, with or without the coin shelving and in various colors.

Finished peice is 30"x17"x2", flag is solid 3/4" malple, stained and painted.

Got to do some caloborative work with Paper Crane Calligraphy. She provided me with some top notch calligraphy which I was able to make into a free standing display, it's probably the most delicate and gossamer thing piece I've ever made.

I then mocked up some custom shaped stir sticks and engraved the calligraphy on the handles.

Both items made on 1/8" maple.
