Welcome to my newest project!! “Lake Girl Beach Glass”….. that’s me. I decided to finally go public with some of my creations. I am going to be selling some of these Lake Erie treasures all around the state. The Story: I have spent many therapeutic hours this past summer and fall (2016) combing the beaches on the southern shores of Lake Erie. From Toledo all the way to the Pennsylvania line- I have visited, found and spent crazy amounts of time at different beaches. This amazingly addictive hobby came to me after spending a whole bunch of time at the last beach my father and I spent time together at before he passed 4 years ago. Many people who have lost loved ones often “feel” their presence when they see Cardinals, Blue Jays, Butterflies, Shooting Stars and so many more beautiful and wondrous things that may represent their loved one's presence to them. So very personal is our connection to those we lose. Both good and bad, we have no control over the things that remind us in an instant of their presence and memory. A smell, a sound an object or situation ~ they are all very powerful and personal to us. In these past four years the realization came that as much as it hurts and sometimes takes my breath away, I know that this is simply the price of being loved sooo well by someone sooo good…. My Dad. As for me- I have not had the privilege of vivid dreams or signs and obvious messages from Heaven… Yet what I quickly learned as I searched for the connection was that I felt my Dad’s loving presence, his admiration for all things beautiful and good, his love for the Lake shining through the waters at that beach on a sunny day- or in the power of the waves on a windy day, in the blessing of a Lake Erie sunset while eating ice cream.... all while at the beach. Our beach. Blazing hot or frigidly cold and gusty days still leave me feeling the same…. He is there. His arms wrap around me as I sit and ponder sooo many things that I could have only been counceled or comforted by my Dad about. That, my friends, is a miracle for me…. So- if I end up incognito for a little while, you can probably find me at the beach speaking with my Dad and my God about all of the wonders of life. Funny thing, cobalt blue beach glass is my all time favorite... As I am having deep convos with my Dad-e-O, I find my BEST ones ;) Thanks for reading and I sincerely hope you like what you see here. Enjoy these Gifts From the Sea...... ~ Lori (“A Gift From the Sea” ~ my all time favorite book by author extraordinaire Mrs. Anne Morrow Lindbergh.) In Case You Were Wondering: The price of the jewelry is very carefully calculated based on: *the time it takes to hand drill smooth and clean holes in tiny pieces of glass *the time and care it takes to hand drill through various sizes of rocks, stones and pebbles *the cost of the diamond tip drill bits *the cost of the Sterling Silver jewelry pieces and special parts to create the jewelry *the rarity, quality and condition of the glass or stone used in the piece *the cost of the tools needed to perform special tasks to create total unique pieces of jewelry *the time and beach combing supplies needed to gather only authentic pieces of beach (or sea) glass, driftwood, stones and other interesting items that speak to me as I discover them ***Other factor may contribute to the pricing as well, but this is the general thought process behind Lake Erie Beach Glass pricing.
