There’s always one cookie on the tray that doesn’t sparkle, shout, or show off—and yet, it’s the first one everyone reaches for.

That’s these.

Made with cream cheese dough, a buttery walnut filling, and a snowy dusting of powdered sugar, these little spirals are quiet on the outside… but full of rich, toasty warmth inside.

Nonna used to say, “A little goes a long way.” And yet, we never stopped at just one.

They’re the quiet star of every cookie tray—the ones that make you close your eyes when you take that first bite.

💗🍪 Heart Sugar Cookies with Fluffy Buttercream 🍪💗

These are the cookies that always show up around Valentine’s Day in my kitchen , soft, sweet, and covered in fluffy buttercream with a sprinkle of love on top. They’re the kind of cookies kids hover over while decorating, and grown-ups sneak straight off the plate with a cup of coffee.

📝 Ingredients:

Heart Sugar Cookies

1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (2 sticks)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

2 drops pink gel food coloring

Buttercream Frosting

½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature (1 stick)

2 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp milk

🥣 Directions:

Make the Cookies:

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.

Add egg and vanilla, mixing well. Stir in pink food coloring.

Gradually mix in dry ingredients until dough comes together.

Divide dough in half, flatten into discs, wrap, and chill 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Roll dough to about ⅛-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into heart shapes.

Bake 7–9 minutes, just until set. Cool completely.

Make the Buttercream:
9. Beat butter until smooth. Slowly add powdered sugar on low speed.
10. Add vanilla and milk, then beat on medium-high for 4–5 minutes until fluffy.
