Led Zeppelin II original withdrawn pressing with the famous Bob Ludwig mastering.
The "RL" pressing of Led Zeppelin II refers to a highly sought-after 1969 vinyl master cut by renowned engineer Robert Ludwig. Famous for its incredible dynamic range, heavy bass, and "hot" (loud) volume, it was quickly recalled because the intense grooves caused cheap record players to jump . Before the album was officially released, engineer Eddie Kramer asked Robert Ludwig to master Led Zeppelin II to be as loud and punchy as possible. Ludwig cut the record with an incredibly wide dynamic range.
However, the story goes that Atlantic Records executive Ahmet Ertegun gave a copy to his niece, whose portable, inexpensive record player's needle kept jumping out of the grooves. Unbeknownst to Ludwig, Atlantic ordered the mastering engineers to re-cut the record with the volume and bass severely dialed down to avoid complaints and returns.
