I should have posted yesterday but it was a whirlwind in every direction. For starters, we had a truly wonderful day at Lansing Pride. We saw so many familiar faces and met even more neighbors and folks who have driven past our baby head adorned front porch. I loved every minute. I appreciate every person who stopped by our table to say hi or show us pictures of babies from past years (even if their plants died and they had been repurposed 😂) and I really do look forward to the friendships at each event!!
Sadly, towards the end of the evening, word spread that there was a jeep on fire up near the stage, like the big black plumes of smoke kind of fire, and in the worst twist of fate - it was ours. The details of everything that went down are blurry. Something about a couple arguing, an object being thrown, and then something igniting in the back seat (since the top and doors were off.) The jeep burned so hot, parts of the cars parked in front and behind were also damaged and melted. We don’t know if it was some kind of attack or just a stupid alleyway fight behind some portapotties. Either way, it’s a huge bummer.
I don’t want it to taint how wholesome and engaging the rest of the day was, but it’s really difficult. People’s motivations for things are an endless mystery to me. All we can do is just try to maintain optimistic light in the midst of weird darkness.
And so we shall!! Next Saturday, we’ll be at East Lansing Pride in the Albert EL Fresco part of downtown East Lansing. If you missed us this weekend, come see us next weekend and maybe pick up a baby!! Or just give me a high five in the name of not letting the bastards get us down!! ❤️🪴👶🏼
