Why God prunes us
“Whenever the Lord prunes us, we lose a part of ourselves. Habits, attitudes, and thoughts are as much a part of us as our faces, arms, and legs. To have part of our spiritual being pruned is to lose part of who we are. Pruning changes who we are. Without the pruning, we remain all foliage and no fruit. “
God uses many methods to accomplish pruning in us. Maybe it was an act of the enemy but we forget God will have His way in the midst. Pruning can come in the form of sickness, loss, humility , sometimes it can come even in the face of gain.
(Genesis 50:20)- As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to keep many people alive.
What God wants is to move us to a place of recognition, realizing the things we have harbored. Those things have many faces. Perhaps we are holding onto behaviors or attitudes that protected us in our brokenness, maybe it is an attitude we developed as a result of that same brokenness.
God’s desire is to bring us to a place where we can be all He created us to be. In His kindness He sometimes allows us to move into those place ahead of the healing because He knows there He can work with us to bring about His wholeness.
The results are based on the condition of our heart…what do you desire? Is the cry of your heart to be more like Him, to love as He loves, to hear as He hears, to reach out and touch the heart of this planet with His heart of love. He is alway faithful. That faithfulness will not alway look as we think it should
Lean in, ask Him what is His purpose in the difficult seasons. Difficultly does not come from Him but it certainly is used for our benefit in Him if we look and ask for His revelation. This might be difficult for some to swallow but His word says John 16:33
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Romans 5:3-5
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5
