Finishing up the Metalhead mod on the Sabot, and figured why not?? Let’s make the urinal cake 😂
Purely as tribute to the original creator of the mod Elan Memran.
I had to wing it on a couple areas, but believe I got extremely close. I downloaded every picture that I could find online and recreated the schematic.
A few of the deviations that I made are: I omitted the additional gain stage following the effects loop as it was primarily a recovery stage and the Sabot already has a buffered loop with recovery. At first, I thought that it was a hardwired Soldano HotMod style gain stage, but after reviewing a few high res photos I found that it was after the tone stack.
Next, in the photos it shows a cathode bypass cap on both of the added stages. I opted to omit the bypass cap on the second stage as I believed it to sound tighter without. This could be due to differences in component values, but I believe the end result is very close.
Finally, I added a cathode bypass on the feeding stage of the cathode follower to boost the bottom end.
With the use of the Sweep control and plummeting the mids I was able to get close to the grind of the Demanufacture tone. The album (per Dino) was quad tracked and panned 2 hard left and 2 hard right. This is something I can’t recreate.
I’m going to try and record a little demo of it, but with the store empty and everything in storage, I don’t have the same capabilities.
And Yes…The 2 caps standing off the board are temporary. Was trying to nail down the best capacitance for the bright switch
