Ever feel like you belong in a story that’s a little bit magical, a little bit mysterious, and entirely grounded in heart?
As many of you know, the Practical Magic series by Alice Hoffman is the heartbeat of my own personal aesthetic and the inspiration behind so much of what we do here at October Embers. It’s a story that has seen me through so many seasons of life; from career shifts to mothering Alice and Thomas, and building this enchanting little shop & our own magical secret garden & all with the support of the love of my life, my husband Tyler. 🌿
I’m so excited to announce that I’ve launched a special, slow-paced book club: The Owens Legacy: an October Embers Bookclub
We are going to walk through the series together—one book a month, in the order they were published—starting with the classic, Practical Magic.
This isn't just about reading; it's about connecting. I want to create a space where we can discuss the themes of grief, healing, ancestral roots, and the magic we find in our own everyday lives. Whether you’re a long-time reader of the series or you’ve always wanted to pick it up, there is a place for you at our table.

They called the women helping birth babies and using herbs as medicine witches, and burned and tortured them by the hundreds.

When I use the word witch, it’s not about spell casting or magical powers. (Although, I do believe in both as manifestation through Laws of Attraction and Quantum Alchemy)

Witch is a woman who has stepped into her power, and I use the word in honor and reverence to the women who sacrificed their lives to live in theirs. 🌹

The witch hunts did not just take lives. They severed lineages of knowledge that can never be fully recovered.
