Reflection Sunday
Today feels a little bittersweet. Many of our local schools start back tomorrow, and for a lot of us, it feels like the “last day of summer.”
This weekend, we took a quick camping trip close to home. No big plans. No long drive. No overthinking it. We simply packed up and went.
This morning, as we were getting ready to head home, I stood by the river for a few quiet minutes. The sound of the water, the birds chirping and the stillness around me gave me a chance to reflect on the summer. I found myself a little sad that it was coming to an end.
But then I realized something…
Summer doesn’t have to be the only time we slow down, explore and enjoy what’s right around us.❤️
Sometimes we spend so much time planning the big trip, waiting for vacation or thinking we need to “get away” to truly unwind. But there is so much goodness right here in our own backyard.
A beautiful river. A local campground. A small-town event. A downtown stroll. A new restaurant. A hidden gem we’ve driven past a hundred times.
It made me think about why we say “shop local”. It’s not just about supporting a small business. It’s about taking the time to notice, appreciate and invest in the community we call home.
So as summer winds down, maybe we don’t have to say goodbye to those moments. Maybe we just need to look for them in a different season.
Because we don’t only live here for the three months of summer. There is beauty, adventure and something worth discovering around us all year long.
Here’s to slowing down, looking around and enjoying a little more of what’s right in our own backyard.
