On public works projects, failing to meet apprenticeship ratios can create compliance issues that follow a job long after completion.

California requires contractors to meet specific apprentice-to-journeyman participation levels under Division of Apprenticeship Standards guidelines.

WBFAA helps companies understand these requirements and participate in a registered apprenticeship program approved by the State of California and the U.S. Department of Labor.

If your company performs public works work and needs clarity on participation requirements:

Entering California’s fire and electronic security industry requires more than technical ability. It requires a defined training and certification pathway.

WBFAA’s registered apprenticeship program provides that structure through six semesters of instruction and a minimum of 6,000 hours of on-the-job training, aligned with state and federal requirements.

This pathway supports both new entrants and companies building a qualified workforce.

WBFAA is expanding CALeFORMS to include a Certified Payroll module, allowing contractors to manage payroll reporting alongside DAS 140 and DAS 142 submissions in one system.

The goal is to reduce duplication, improve organization, and simplify compliance for companies working on public projects.
