Happy Earth Day 🌍️
Sustainable coffee involves more than what’s visible. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at our approach.
Not all organic coffee is certified 🌱 A lot of small farmers actually grow coffee organically by default… but certification is expensive, so they don’t always have the label. That’s why we look beyond certifications and focus on regenerative farming practices that help keep the soil healthy, protect the land, and support farmers long-term.
And a big one people don’t realize: high altitude matters ⛰️ Our coffee is grown at high altitudes in Africa, where there are fewer pests… which means little to no need for chemicals in the first place. Nature does most of the work.
Processing is another one 💧 Some coffee is naturally processed, while other coffee is washed (uses water, but it can be recycled). Different methods, different flavors — we use both depending on what brings out the best in each coffee.
And yes… packaging is a bit of a balance ♻️ To keep coffee fresh, bags need a protective lining — so fully compostable isn’t always realistic. We use sustainable processes wherever possible while ensuring the coffee stays fresh.
At the end of the day, sustainability in coffee goes beyond a label. It starts at the source: how the coffee is grown, how farmers are supported, and how we work with nature, not against it.
We make coffee that’s better for the land, better for the farmers, and better in your cup. 💛
