We wanted to make everyone aware of a change for the can donation cage.
For many years the Mapleton Rotary was in charge of this donation area. They did so many good things with the money they raised it would be inpossible to list them all here. Sadly they have now disbanded and no longer want to handle the cans.
However the Mapleton Iowa 4th of July Celebration Committee is now taking this over! All funds raised will be used towards the yearly event. They will also use the can money to start to save for the 150th celebration coming up in 2028. Funds will also be used for improvements in the park.
New banners will be put up hopefully later this week on the can fence.
Just to remind everyone please only bring cans and bottles that have the IA 5 cent marking on them.
Also let us know if you would like to help by donating your time! Many hands make quick work of sorting and counting cans!
