This 1970s Alvarez Model 5024 is one of those guitars. Built as a tribute to the iconic Gibson Dove, it comes from what’s often called the “lawsuit era”—a time when Japanese builders were producing incredibly faithful interpretations of classic American guitars. Models like this became part of guitar history after legal disputes led manufacturers to move away from these close designs.

🎸🤩 Not every day a guitar like this comes through the shop!

Our store manager, Chris, had the chance to spend some time with this incredibly rare Joe Maphis Mosrite double-neck while it was here for service. Getting to work on unique instruments with stories like this is one of the most rewarding parts of being an independent music store that’s been keeping time in Central Ohio for over 6 decades. 🎶
