A nice distraction from all of the marching band horrors that I’ve seen recently. The base of a friends pepper grinder had a split and was no longer doing its job. I machined a mandrel to clamp this piece onto so I could silver solder it. Turned out very nice and is ready to go back into service.

This one was a real challenge. Very thick, heavy metal. It was like taking dents out of cast-iron. Nuss Mfg Co, Harrisburg PA. Considering these were made just a few miles from where my shop is, I rarely see them.

At some point in this tenor saxophones life, there was something screwed to the bell with probably sheet metal screws, perhaps drywall screws. The customer didn’t want a patch, so this was my remedy. Make the holes equal and perfectly round with an end mill on the milling machine , machine small plugs to fill those holes, solder them in, then file as much as I dared to get them as flush as possible.
