More new stuff for the fair. Handmade Kalamkari bandanas just arrived! We have 18 different styles that will make a perfect companion to many of our patchwork pants and skirts!

Now what exactly is Kalamkari…..?

Kalamkari is a traditional art of fabric printing using vegetable dyes. The printing is done using wooden blocks chiselled from teak wood by master craftsmen. This complex and highly skilled art of printing fabric is practiced by certain families in Andhra Pradesh, India. Pomegranate peel, iron scrap, turmeric, Jaggrey, salt etc are used to make the vegetable dyes. The cloth is soaked in Myrobalam Juice before printing. After printing each color the fabric is boiled using leaves, flowers and barks and sundried to resume printing. The printed fabric is finally washed in the flowing waters of river Krishna. The flow of the water determines the brightness of the colors. The fabric is then sun-dried and ready to be crafted! Smudges and minor imperfections are completely normal due to the handcrafting process.

AI data centers keep popping up, polluting our air, depleting our water, wasting electricity, and stealing from artists. Despite this, we have all too often had the displeasure of viewing AI posters, logos, ads, and what can only loosely be considered art.
It seems the direction of the world as we know it continues to turn in the direction of an AI-centric future, which is especially unfortunate for the health of nature (which includes humans!) as well as the livelihood of real artists.
Quantum Mystic has never and will never use AI for ANYTHING as long as we can help it. Our logo was drawn by us. Our posts are written entirely by us. Our products are made by real artists.
Before you consider using AI, please research the effects this has on the environment as well as understand the positive impact employing a real artist could have on a creator as well as your poster/logo/business.
Real art has soul.
AI “art” is a conglomerate of stolen work, smushed together and regurgitated into the shape you decide it is worth.

Well what was supposed to be an exciting week has certainly taken a turn…..
We are skipping Green Dragon tomorrow simply because it is not safe to spend 10 hours outside breathing in all this smoke.
New Cumberland Pride will more than likely be postponed to Sunday due to all the storms/rain forecasted for Saturday. Considering that we also have Berks Pride on Sunday that means we will have no choice but to miss New Cumberland 🙁

Thank you Frederick Pride‼️🌈🦄💃 We took a chance on this out-of-state event we didn’t know much about. The stars aligned, we experienced too little rain to notice (perhaps just enough for a rainbow somewhere outside our realm,) the smoothest setup/pack-up, a lovely group of colorful customers and a beautiful weekend overall. This was our best Pride yet despite being in the teeny tent!
Today was spent exploring this super cute town, eating exquisite foods and shopping at the cool spots Downtown Frederick has to offer. We are already looking forward to next year.💗
We’re taking a couple weeks off from events but will still be at the markets (unless the temperature is too much to deal with-then nobody wants to be there.) Then July 18th & 19th shall be a rainbow-stacked weekend; New Cumberland Pride Saturday and Berks (Reading) Pride on Sunday, and that’ll end 2026 Prides for Quantum Mystic but know we’ll be bright, bold, and proud forevermore! 🌈
