Our Story
The store Back Home Again opened 16 years ago in Wamego, Kansas in a little building right across the street from the Friendly Cooker. After only a year Susan decided to move it to her home town of Abilene so she could spend more time helping her mother. The name of the shop comes from one of Susan’s favorite songs from John Denver where he sings about how important being back home again means to him. Susan’s mother was an antique dealer for over 40 years and had one of the nicest antique shop in the state years ago known as Granny’s Playhouse. Susan grew up with antiques as a child, and loves the Colonial Style in decorating and the beauty of old wood. She carries new furniture sold by the Parkhill Collection and Knock On Wood and Twiggs that is made out of old pine wood along with antique furniture. She also carries over 30 flavors of Gourmet Coffee Beans from the company that the shop in the local mall use to carry along with a many gift items. In the back part of the store she rents out booths to only selective dealers that carry true antiques. Susan opened her shop years ago to help others decorate their homes. Stop by and see if Susan can help you decorate yours.
