NIKE AIR JORDAN VIII (8)

Originally released in 1993, the Air Jordan 8 features two cross-straps over the laces. Three colorways were released, Bulls "Home," All-Star "Aqua" and Bulls "Playoff" editions, each packaged in a new Air Jordan box that was also used for the AJ 9, AJ 10 and first two colorways of the AJ 11. Ten years later, they were retroed for the first time. Four pairs were released, including the debut of the Air Jordan 8 in low-top form. The Air Jordan 8 Retro Low featured the same design as the highs, but with one cross-strap instead of two.

The Air Jordan 8 Retro would not return in until 2007, when it was the final model to be released before the Air Jordan XX3. During this run, we saw the other two OG colorways, "Aqua" and "Playoff," make their long-awaited return, along with a few new colorways. Limited LS releases and three colorways for women also dropped. In 2008, the original white, black and red colorway was packaged alongside a new colorway of the Air Jordan 15 Retro in the 15/8 Collezione "Countdown' Pack." Limited to 24 pairs each, House of Hoops exclusive Quentin Richardson and Ray Allen PEs also released.

Five years passed before the Air Jordan 8 retroed again. Two OG colorways sparked the 2013 return, including the white, black and red pair for the third time. A year later, an exclusive "Doernbecher" colorway was released as a part of Nike's Freestyle Collection. In 2015, the Air Jordan 8 Retro returned ahead of its 23rd Anniversary in 2016.

NIKE AIR JORDAN VII (7)

The Air Jordan 7 originally released in 1992 and was once again designed by Tinker Hatfield. Unlike the previous four models, the 7 did away with the visible Air unit in the heel and "Nike Air" logo on the heel. They featured a Huarache-like neoprene inner bo**ie and colorful geometric detailing inspired by West African Tribal culture.

Five original colorways of the 7 were released, including the first Olympic-inspired version, which Michael Jordan wore during the 1992 Summer Olympic Games as a part of the "Dream Team." This pair also featured Jordan's Olympic number "9" in place of ‘23’ on the back triangle piece.

The Air Jordan 7 Retro made its debut in 2002. It was short-lived, as only two colorways were released. One pair came in the original "Charcoal" colorway, while the other came in an all-new Retro+ style. This version, the "French Blue" edition, brought the first new colorway to the model since it was originally released and also featured a new leather tongue.

The 7 Retro returned two years later 2004. This one-off release release saw the the original "Olympic" colorway come back for the first time. In 2006, the 7 Retro would finally get a full run, with six colorways releasing. The run started off with two "LS" editions, followed by the return of the original "Cardinal" colorway and an all-new women’s exclusive.

In 2008, the original "Hare" colorway returned as a part of the Jordan 16/7 Collezione "Countdown" Pack. Also releasing that year was a limited "Olympic Celebration" colorway inspired by Joan Miro, a famous Spanish painter.

Air Jordan 6 (VI) History

What makes the Air Jordan VI so remarkable? Could it be that the AJ 6 was worn during MJs first NBA title? Air Jordan VI 6Or could it be he won his first NBA Finals MVP? Maybe it is the material, or design of the Air Jordan VI. Which ever it may be, this is one shoe to remember.

On the Air Jordan 6 Michael Jordan gave direct orders to have a clean toe, so Tinker Hatfield made sure the Air Jordan VI had a reinforcement around the toe, making the AJ VI the first basketball model to obtain this. MJ had problems putting on the past five models,

Original Air Jordan 6 VIso Tinker designed two holes on the top of the tongue, and one loop on the back, calling it “a spoiler”.

The Air Jordan 6 was the second model to have the clear rubber sole. When the Air Jordan V was released a lot of people complained that their children were falling because the soles would collect dust that was on the court, making the sole slippery. Now on the Air Jordan VI Tinker added a more solid rubber, so this problem would not happen again.

Michael wanted the heel tab positioned so it did not hit his Achilles tendon, making the Jordan 6 the first shoe to have any sort of molded structure on the back. The last touch Tinker gave was incorporated the number “23” on the design of the shoe. When the original Air Jordan VI came out in 1991 there were five color way models retailing for $125.00. In 2000 three models were re-released of the Air Jordan 6, selling for $120.00, and in 2002 three low top versions came out which sold for $105.00. In 2005 Jordan Brand released a DMP which stands for “Defining Moments Package”, which consisted of the Air Jordan VI and XI. Retail is $295.00.

Air Jordan 5 (V) History

The Air Jordan 5 was released in February 1990. Four models of the Air Jordan V was released to the public. Original Air Jordan 5 V Grapes Two models which are the Black/Black-Metallic Silver and White/Fire Red-Black had MJs number “23” on the side. Limited to only 100 pairs each, and were given to unfortunate kids or auctioned off as charity.

The Air Jordan V was the first in the Air Jordan line to have a clear rubber sole. Tinker Hatfield also designed the Nike Marty MacFly’s featured in the movie Back to the Future II, they had clear molding which allowed light to come through, and that is were Tinker got the idea from.

Air Jordan Retro 5 V Also the AJ 5 was the first time anyone had ever molded foam into a shoe upper.

When you look at the AJ V besides the icy soles, what else do you notice? What I notice is the flames on the side. Tinker came to the conclusion that the way Michael performed was “like a Fighter Plane”. When the AJ 5 was designed, the inspiration was “grey nurse shark” or Super marine Spitfire MkVIII, which is a World War II British fighter plane. To add to the finishing touches of the shoe, Tinker added a reflective 3M tongue with Jumpman embroidery.

When the Air Jordan 5 first came out in 1990 they retailed for $125.00. In 2000 when the AJ V made its second appearance they sold for $120.00. 2006 Jordan Brand will re-release the Air Jordan V once again, but this time with a $135.00 price tag.

NIKE AIR JORDANS 4s

You’re definitely talking about something more than shoes when you talk of Air Jordan 4.

A short trip down the memory lane: Chicago Bulls were caught in a do or die situation against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The time had almost finished. The Bulls needed something more on the scoreboard, or they would be knocked out of the season. It was a score or go-home moment.

Right at the buzzer, Michael Jordan jumped his way into the Cavaliers’ defense and scored a shot (later immortalized as “the shot”) to eventually clinch the match for the Bulls and take them to the next round.

And then, TV cameras started focusing on Michael Jordan’s feet, and he was wearing Air Jordan 4.

The Air Jordan 4 had a full-length midsole, an increased ankle, and forefoot support (in the form of straps, or “wings”). On the air cushioned heel was a big, prominent Nike Air inscription.

For some reason, Nike decided to replace it with the Jumpman logo in the retro versions, which also looked cool (but somehow lacked the original nostalgic touch associated with the Jordan 4s). Thankfully, Jordan 4s had more than Michael Jordan’s “the shot” moment to bring to mind.

Remember Do the Right Thing, the Spike Lee film released in 1989? Remember Mookie’s role in it? Remember something more? Mookie’s feet by any chance?

Well, if you’re a Michael Jordan fan, you would! Mookie had Air Jordan 4s on his feet when he scuffed them against his bicycle tire. Only Air Jordan fans could feel the pain!

Even today Jordan fans love the Air Jordan 4 release—keeping it in supply for around $190.
