🌈The Promise in the Sky: Reflecting on Genesis 9:13🌈
This was daily calendar's verse to meditate on today. And of course it just really makes me think about this weekend's flooding in Texas. I normally stay away from the news as far as letting it impact my day, but the Hill Country flooding is just too relatable I guess. I can't stop thinking about it, praying about it, and honestly, worrying about it. If you're like me, maybe this verse today can help give a little hopeful reminder!
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” — Genesis 9:13 (NIV) 🌈
After the flood, when the waters receded and the ark came to rest, God made a promise — not just to Noah, but to all living creatures. In Genesis 9:13, the rainbow becomes more than a beautiful natural display; it becomes a divine symbol, a visible reminder of God's mercy and faithfulness.
This verse speaks to a God who doesn’t just speak promises — He seals them with signs. The rainbow, arching high across stormy skies, reminds us that even after destruction, there is hope. Even after judgment, there is grace.
In a world still marked by storms — personal, cultural, and global — the rainbow continues to say: God remembers. He remembers His covenant. He sees. He’s present.
When we look at the rainbow today, we can pause and reflect: God keeps His promises. He brings peace after chaos. And His mercy endures across generations.
So next time you see a rainbow, let it speak to your soul — not just about weather, but about God’s unchanging faithfulness. ✨
