Join us at CountyRoad9 for a watercolor class with Jo Costales, art teacher, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM. We will enjoy a session of creativity and exploration as you learn several basic watercolor techniques. During class, we will practice color blending, color spreading, creating definition, and layering colors. Find out how to use a variety of brushes and objects to create texture and unique surfaces. Also, learn a technique to transfer a printed picture onto paper as you refine your drawing skills.

By the end of class, you will have an example of the techniques you learned in class and a complete small composition that demonstrates your newfound skills.

The class is two hours long, and the cost is $50 per person. Everyone will receive a packet of two 5 ½” X 7 ½” watercolor papers, simple line drawings, watercolor technique examples and explanations, pencil, eraser, an ultra-fine Sharpie, and a practice watercolor paper strip.
Brushes will be provided, as well as mixing paint pallets for participants to use and purchase if they so choose. Watercolor paints are not included in the class fee, if you already own please bring or you may purchase a set for $18 when you book your class.

Jo is a thirty-year veteran teacher of both English and art. She has been practicing art since childhood and found a deep love for art and art history in her first years of college. She currently resides in Pacific Grove, CA, where she teaches both 2D and 3D art to middle school students. Follow the link in the comments to sign up for this fun and informative class.
