August 17 - Today is the Memorial of OUR LADY OF KNOCK.

The Holy See (Vatican) had instituted the new Feast Day of Our Lady of Knock on this date every year for the whole Universal Church. It is listed in the new Roman Missal and has its own Memorial Mass.

August 17 was chosen because August 21 has already been assigned to Saint Pius X: “the Pope of the Holy Eucharist”.

August 21 is the Anniversary of the Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint John the Apostle / Evangelist and the Glorious Lamb of God adored by the hovering angels witnessed by 15 people of all ages (between the ages of 5 - 75) from the village during the rainy evening of August 21, 1879. This date will continue to be the local Feast Day at Knock and the whole country of Ireland.
