In Remembrance of Ray W**d

Our dear friend, Ray W**d, went to be with his Lord this morning. We will miss him greatly. Ray W**d started volunteering with Judy Everett about 22 years ago. He led the logistics efforts after the great fires in 2011. He was President of Society of Samaritans for 3 years until 2015. I was so blessed to be mentored by Ray when I followed him as President. Those of us who know and love Ray know that he always found a job for anyone he met to help with SOS or Magnolia’s First Baptist Church. Someone said, “When I saw Ray coming, I turned around and went the other way because I knew he had a job for me to do.” He had such a heart for our clients here at SOS. But the most important thing is he loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart!

In addition to his jobs at SOS, he led the greeter team at Magnolia’s First Baptist Church for many years. He led the benevolence ministry called “Fresh Start” for many years and helped so many of our neighbors in need here in our great community.

This photo was taken when he was crowned Lord Ray in appreciation for his service to our community in 2016. Lady Mildred Ashworth has served SOS for the past 21 years and was the former Executive Director.
