A light thing!

Today reading in 2 Kings 3 I see a piece of scripture that really brings hope to a desperate situation. There was no water for Gods people when they had traveled several days and was about to go to war with the Moabites.

They of coarse sought the council of the Lord to see what is to happen. The Lord tells them that he will make the dry land filled with pools of water for them to drink and would also give the Moabites into their hands. The Lord did what appeared to be impossible in the land and said it was a light thing for him. There is nothing too difficult for the Lord! There are other things in this chapter that are rather important as well and should be pondered. Take time to read it today.

As we focus on Yahweh, the one true God, remember this story. He can do all things, even what appears impossible! When circumstances look grim, remain loyal to him, don’t fear what the enemy of the world is doing and the Lord will be with us! After all, supernatural things are a light for him!

He LIED…

I am now back in Kings reading and I sat and pondered this story from 1 Kings 13. The Lord had tasked a man of God to go deliver a message to Jeroboam, the king of Israel. He had specific instructions to go, deliver the message, not eat or drink there, and return another way.

The man of God followed his instruction pretty well, even denied Jeroboam’s offer to come eat and drink and started back another way.

Unfortunately, a prophet in Bethel that had heard the message that the man of God came to deliver, deceived him. He met the man of God and lied to him, deceiving him into doing exactly what God had told him not to do.

This story has a real tragic end to it. It made me really ponder Gods word and to think about what the word tells US to do. We are to become pupils of the word and to follow Jesus and to love him with all our heart. Don’t listen to the lies of the deceiver that you don’t have time to read and study, or any other countless lies he will feed you. Pray that God expose ALL lies that are before you, so that you will NOT be deceived.

I’ve been continuing in 2 Chronicles and loved this piece of scripture today!! Mainly because the Deuteronomy 32 worldview is in plain sight!!

The arrogant king of Assyria tried to tell the people of Judah that he was more powerful than any other god of the nations.

He tried to discourage the people of Judah telling them he defeated other nations and their gods that did nothing to save them.

The difference with Hezekiah and the nation of Judah was they worshipped the one true God. Hezekiah prayed to Yahweh, his god and he defeated the arrogant king of Assyria!!

This story really brings me hope and clarity, that it matters to which god you serve. Do you serve the one true god, Yahweh or one of other nations?

Looking at cultural change and what becomes acceptable to a people begins to tell the story. You can see when leadership begins to fall into pagan activities, the people can be lead astray.

It is so important to read the word of God yourself and know what is good and what it’s not. Otherwise, you might fall into pagan worship and not even realize it!

The god of their fathers!

Today was a very humbling reading through 2 Chronicles 23 and 24. In the previous chapters, we saw the detriment that comes when people aligned themselves with evil. As I pondered verse 24:18 this morning, it makes me realize how important our decisions are. Scripture says they abandoned the god of their fathers and sought after Asherim and idols. Yahweh of course raises prophets to bring the people back to the one true god, but they wouldn’t pay attention.

I just sat and thought…. They abandoned the god of their fathers. I started thinking about the U.S. There is such division on if our country was founded on Christian values or not. As I learn through the Biblical citizenship class through Patriot academy, I now lean towards a resounding YES! I am thankful to live in a free country where we have the ability to choose on what we want to base our faith in, but the further we get away from our foundation, the worse it will get. I find it interesting there has been initiatives to distort the truth, which makes me think the goal is to get us to forget, or simply not know who the god was of our founding fathers! I think the majority was the one true god of the Bible!

As we go through this period of history, are we listening to Gods word, or are we not paying attention?

Aligning with evil has consequences!

Reading in 2 Chronicles, the evil continues to grow due the King of Judah’s alliance with the King of Israel which had fallen into evil ways. Because of this alliance, Judah began to also walk in the ways that were not good. One of the sons of the King of Judah even married the daughter of King Israel. The Lord had declared to destroy the evil house of Ahab, but the evil forces get relentless in the process! As you read through the story, evil gets worse and worse, leaving a path of death and destruction!

Thankfully, there is always someone in the story who acts courageously and according to Gods will. Jehoshabeath did not sit by and do nothing, she acted and saved one royal son from the path of destruction.

This story really makes me think about my own life. Am I making alliances that could potentially have any bad consequences? Do I align with ANYTHING that is not if God? As the evil continues to rage around me, am I sitting back doing nothing or am I being like Jehoshabeath and reacting in a good and godly way? Just all makes you ponder!

Cry out to the Lord

Continuing in 2 Chronicles, I fell in love with the text!! When a people cry out to the Lord, they will find success! When we feel overwhelmed, surrounded and outnumbered by evil, reflect on this story!

Abijah was now king over Judah after his father Rehoboam had died. They head into battle against the northern kingdom led by Jeroboam. Adijah declares they had not forsaken Yahweh and have kept his charge.

Going into battle, I am sure they felt surrounded and outnumbered because Abijah had 400k mighty warriors and Jeroboam had 800k! God gave Adijah success because he remained loyal to Yahweh. Jeroboam was defeated and sadly lost 500k men that day. Such a tragic event when wars happen and loss of life occurs.

When we feel overwhelmed, surrounded and outnumbered, remember this story!! Success will come to those who rely on the one true God, Yahweh! It sure does seem like evil is closing in and we are outnumbered! God is with those who love him!

All vanity, just a v***r!

Today I finished the book of Ecclesiastes. Normally I find that book rather depressing, but this time through it, I really found it rather profound and thought provoking. This life is just a v***r! Not everyone is blessed with long life. Some days are dark. We should should be joyful and merry to embrace the days we do get. As we move through life, experiencing the good and bad times, remember your creator! You know, the one who fashioned you in your mothers womb and the one who is in control. I have lived 52 years so far and my days could have been cut short many times due to my own stupidity, but today I sit in shear thankfulness, because God has blessed me with an amazing husband, beautiful daughter and loving family!! Thank you Lord!!

Wisdom & Folly

Yesterday morning reading in Proverbs, Wisdom and Folly are contracted. They both call to the same people groups. Folly is seductive and tries to lead them on a path that ends in death. Wisdom on the other hand is leading them to life. Folly elevates itself, but really knows nothing. Remember, this Folly is leading people astray in ways that are opposing to the creator! Proverbs 4:27 tells us not to turn to the left or right, which Folly is said to be trying to get people to do. Where are you on this path? Are you keeping your focus on the creator and designers ways, or does Folly have your attention and heading down the wrong path? Ask the Lord to lead you in the way that leads to LIFE….the path of Wisdom, not Folly! When we begin to fear and revere the Lord, that’s the beginning of Wisdom!

A Father’s Commandments!

Reading in Proverbs this morning, I loved both sections of this scripture! First it covers the things the Lord hates. When we think of our adversary (there really is one), he is doing all those things the Lord hates and is quite the master of them. The adversary leads you astray and wants you to be adulterous to your God.

But then it goes into scripture of how to be protected in the adulterous path. When we keep our fathers commandments (and God is our father), he writes them on our heart, he leads us, he watches over us, his spirit talks to us and he is the lamp/light to our path!! Oh how I love his commandments, they actually do lead to life!!

Your confidence

Reading in Proverbs, is is all about wisdom and knowledge that come from the Lord. Wisdom and discretion are life to our soul. These days, I find myself soaking in the word, because we need his wisdom more than anything!! There are so many so called “truths” floating around, deciding which is really true is going to require the Lords wisdom! I certainly do not want to park on any falsehood. Because I lean into the Lord daily, reading and studying his word, my confidence is he is leading and guiding me. Where is your confidence today?
