Pretty bummed out to hear that the Comedy Club on State / Comedy on State is hosting a known sexual predator for shows. Extra sad that they're trying to hide it by not promoting it on Facebook and only sharing it on their website - almost like they know it's wrong.

Reconsider your actions, Comedy Club. It isn't challenging to book talent that hasn't exploited power imbalances to victimize people.

Michaelangelos Coffee Shop on State Street: VERY disappointing to see the way you are handling this issue. For low-earning workers to walk off the job in the middle of an unemployment crisis shows the depth of their commitment to keeping themselves, their fellow workers, and their customers safe. In addition, making the comment that you were given "one hour" to make a decision on masks - which could hardly be called a decision, but rather a mandate (thanks to scientific data and guidance on mask use indoors) - is misleading. Rather, you had months to determine a policy around the wearing of face coverings. State Street, Madisonians, and those who wish for the health and safety of others are hoping you learn from this and publicly change.

Businesses can be rebuilt. Possessions can be replaced. Lives cannot.
