Just picked up one of the most fascinating collections I’ve ever purchased! A love of anime ended up changing the trajectory of this collector’s entire life!! 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
These comics belonged to Christopher, who discovered anime in the 1990s through a friend. Wanting more, he started tracking down the American comic book versions published by Dark Horse, Epic Comics, and others.
What started as a hobby completely changed the course of his life. Because of THESE comics, Christopher decided to learn Japanese in college. Because of that decision, he moved to Japan 🇯🇵
He lived there for over 10 YEARS, taught English, worked as a translator for Toyota, collected Japanese manga, anime VHS tapes, and built an incredible library along the way. After the 2008 financial crisis, he returned to the United States and recently decided it was time to reclaim some space in his home.
Included are Akira, Battle Angel Alita, Ghost in the Shell, Blade of the Immortal, Lone Wolf and Cub, Nausicaä, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gunsmith Cats, Ranma ½, Japanese-language manga, anime magazines, vintage anime VHS tapes, and so so so much more.
Comic books changed this man’s life so dramatically that they literally led him to a different country.
Now, after decades of collecting, I’m honored to be the next caretaker of this collection.
I’m still processing everything, but MANY of these are complete runs that will be showing up in claim posts. If theres enough singles to have a live sale I’ll figure out if there will be one next week (or two or none idk).
