Not to be dramatic, but Mackinac Island is the most cozy and romantic place in world for a fall time trip. There are no shortage of activities, but the best parts are definitely lazy bike rides through falling leaves and quiet dinners next to the working fireplaces at our many fantastic restaurants. And the best part? No passport needed! I've been antsy to book a trip for myself, but truly nowhere else compares to Mackinac fall so I'll wait for it to come to me 😉

Spend the day with me as a working mom on Mackinac! Being that our store is on the dock we get to see the comings and going of the island. It feels like yesterday that everyone was arriving for the beginning of the season, and here we are already watching the college kids depart for another semester at school. I know you're all excited to see snow again, but I'm so excited to show you fall! It's hands down my favorite time on Mackinac. Busy days ahead but there's nothing else I'd rather be doing. Mackinac Island is the perfect spot to celebrate, and definitely the perfect spot to get engaged (and married!). One of the things that makes it so special is that it's fairly easy to come back, it's a place that you can make a tradition. Walked outside my kitchen yesterday to meet my sister for a cookie dough delivery and the otters were out playing! I'm pretty sure these are 3 pups and their mom who have been hanging around. They're getting so big! They were diving down for breakfast, you can see mom zoom off to eat her crawfish in peace (and as a mom, I felt that 😂). My favorite moment is when my sister (who was alerted they were there and was basically paddling to the dock at that point) gets close to the dock and they scurry off glaring at her, never breaking eye contact. I love these little chaos goblins, I could watch them all day! The magic of Mackinac 😍🦦🦦🦦

Looking for a fun Saturday activity? Head to Hessel for the 48th annual Antique Wooden Boat Show! Held at our parent's marina where we make all of the cookie dough. Not only can you get one of our famous cookies at the original location, you can walk the docks and check out some rare and unique classic boats. Local artisans fill the surrounding areas and it's just such a fun way to spend a day in Northern Michigan. Always the second Saturday in August, so mark you calendars for next year too 😉

Moving on Mackinac! I've had so many people say to me "don't you guys have some secret trucks you can use for this?" and the answer is no! It's an absolute process. But it's worth it because we love living here. I would say fingers crossed that this is our last move for awhile, but we're hoping to buy over here someday so we shall see! For now we love where we moved into and are so excited to get these boxes unpacked.

July was a dream! So excited for August but I'm not going to lie, I can feel fall on the horizon and it's taking all my willpower to not start decorating for Halloween. This warm, gorgeous weather is helping hold spooky season at bay, though, and I can't wait for another gorgeous summer month on Mackinac!

Early August morning ride to work in Mackinac Island! We had some pretty hot, sticky days here on the island, but overnight rain showers have burned off the humidity and there was a lovely, cool breeze on my way down this hill this morning. I know it's only August but I am getting so excited for fall! My seagull was waiting for me at the dock this morning as he does every morning. He follows on the outside of the building as I go back and forth from the kitchen to the store. He even knocks on the door of the store if I don't have a little piece of cookie out for him 🫣😂 what shall I name him?
