I’ve been pondering how to start this post for a few weeks now, and it seems that I haven’t found the perfect way. But, nevertheless, it has to be done—Chapters Bookstore’s story is coming to a close.
My 14-year-old self had a dream to open up a bookstore in my hometown, which I was fortunate enough to make that dream come true. It has been the best experience I could have ever asked for. However, my 17-year-old self has a new dream—a dream of college, an unbounded future, one with new experiences in new places with new people. And unfortunately, I had to pick between these two dreams.
It has been an honor to create something the community has grown to love. I will always cherish the smiles on kids’ faces when they got a new book or toy, the couch that has served as a place for many conversations between friends and family, and the atmosphere for people to enjoy during Fall Fest, Christmas time, and all other times, too. To the community—thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for all the love, support, and kind words you have shown Chapters. Your support will always have a special place in my heart.
Although this is a bittersweet announcement for me to make, what’s coming next is something I am super excited about! Chapters will not become a vacant building on our downtown strip. I am excited to say that Hunter Kraus will be continuing the magic at 714 Topeka Avenue with Rocking K3 Boutique! She will be moving in around the middle of May! I will make a separate post soon to include the details of what Hunter will be doing! (She’s keeping the books! 😁)
This is a hard post for me to make, but I also know that what the future holds for me and for Lyndon is great! Again, thank you! We will continue to be open Wednesdays and Saturdays through the middle of May. See you soon!
