Dear Sweet Friends and Loyal Customers,
As I sit down to write this letter, I find myself filled with a deep sense of gratitude and emotion. After many wonderful years, the time has come to say goodbye—Velma’s has been sold.
This little candy store has been more than a business. It’s been a home, a dream, and a place where countless sweet memories have been made. From first steps and sticky fingers to holiday traditions and spontaneous treats, Velma’s has been woven into the lives of so many in our community. Watching generations walk through our doors has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
Thank you to my Husband, Dean Sandefur for helping me fulfill a life long dream of having my own business. My family for their support and dear friend Angie Gatto Maxey for launching Velma’s 8 wonderful uears ago.
There’s one person in particular who deserves special recognition—Shannon Millsaps. Shannon, your love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Velma’s from nearly the very beginning has meant more than words can say. You’ve poured your heart into every corner of this shop, greeted every customer with warmth, and helped build something truly special. Velma’s simply wouldn’t be what it is today without you (and Emma, of course). Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
To our amazing customers—thank you for embracing Velma’s, for choosing to support a small business, and for making us a part of your stories. Your laughter, your loyalty, your shared moments of joy over a favorite sweet treat—those are the things I will carry with me forever.
Though the store is changing hands, I have full faith that the spirit of Velma’s will continue on. I hope you’ll continue to support the new owners as warmly as you did us. And know that wherever I go, I’ll be carrying the love and memories of this special place and community with me.
With all my love and gratitude,
Kellie Hope Sandefur
