Happy August, Readers!
July was a good one. I had a great time at Riverwalk Festival and went camping near Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We celebrated some birthdays in our family and ate chocolate cake at the beach and stayed up way too late! What a great month!
I feel like I’m getting back into my usual groove for the bookshop. I’ve been feeling more inspired to make content and brainstorm events. With another year of Riverwalk Festival under my belt, I’m feeling better at doing events and had the data to show for it! I’m also starting to think about what my workflow will be once school is back in session (school already, I know, I know!).
Here’s everything I loved in July:
Books: Clara & the Devil by , Voidwalker by , and Live, Laugh, Love by were some of my favorites last month.
Music: I’m still OBSESSED with ’s new album. The sounds and styles are so cool. I got it on vinyl for my birthday! Love love love it even though I kind of feel like Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday listening to it in my mid 30s 😂
Podcasts: ’s Good Content! Her tips are practical and I can brainstorm up at least one post every time I listen to her. I also love podcast BookEd. One thing about me is I am constantly trying to learn and be better at what I do and the ABA has a plethora of resources available for booksellers. If you’re thinking about opening a store, I cannot overstate how vital an ABA membership is!
TV/Movies: ’s Ransom Canyon’s season 2 dropped this month and can I just say that love triangle is my least favorite romance trope? 😭 I’ve been a sucker for Josh Duhamel since All My Children though, so I was doomed from the start (thanks, mom!). I absolutely ADORED Ride or Die on . Friendship? Assassins? Mystery? Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham?! Sign me up!
Games: I spent way too much time and money at Rookies and last month. I finally honed my psychic deck enough that I can beat Mr. Golden Hour (occasionally)! Ask me about my bookish Pokémon cards, I’m begging you! lol.
