Preorder John Wiswell's newest book 'This Dragon Has Complaints' before July 7th to get 15% off!

"This is a story of found family in the most unexpected places, and how it can bring out the best in us. Wiswell captures the mundanity of living with mental and physical disabilities day after day, year after year, without downplaying the toll they take. This book has cozy vibes, witty banter, solid world building, and so much heart. " - Megan

For bookseller Clara A., books were a way to get around the rules. “As a kid, bedtime always came with the caveat ‘unless you’re reading,’ so I would often read late into the night thinking I was gaming the system, when in fact I was doing exactly what my parents wanted me to do.”

While she credits this bit of reverse psychology with jump-starting her love of books, she now sees reading as a way to get to know herself. “When I’m reading, it’s just me and my own mind. I love the sense of comfortable solitude I get from reading a book.”

But don’t mistake Clara for a wallflower: she loves talking about books. So much so, in fact, that she started an author-interview podcast and radio show in 2018. Since starting at lala last August, she’s put her interview skills to use on this very feature, Community Corner, which she created to highlight the wonderful community lala books has built in Lowell.
