Beautifully reproduced Roman armor.

This armor belongs to Iago Rodriguez Diaz, a Roman cavalry officer.

He proudly wears a beautifully recreated Xanten cavalry helmet, complete with a large, three-dimensional image of the emperor and a Nijmegen face mask.

Additionally, he wears a lorica musculata, a muscled cuirass made of the finest steel, possibly with a tinned surface for added luster.

Beautiful reconstruction. 👍

Lorica squamata, or scaled armor, was one of the three main armor types worn by the average Roman legionary, the other two being hamata (the most common) and segmentata (the most iconic). Please note that a full, intact set of lorica squamata has never been recovered from a Roman battle site, and this piece likely consists of scales picked from many different finds used to reconstruct a whole. This was almost certainly not found in its current state. This leads to the theory that squamata was not as commonly used as its more commonly found counterparts.

Beautiful armor. It is so amazing how much craftsmanship there was in earlier times.
