I’ve been making digital miniatures and jewelry, but like most Americans my dream is to have a pillow company. The No Stopping Anytime pillowcase has a message that reminds us to never stop, but at the same time, as a pillow, recognizes we need to stop sometimes. It has been called the thinking person’s live, laugh, love.

I was intrigued by the complexity of the central character, Bobo the Pig. He's good, and yet also bad. There's an idea that our attention to things raises awareness of them in the collective consciousness, so maybe by reading this book from the 20s I've helped restore something that was fading. Like couthness. Nobody is uncouth, or couth, anymore. Maybe now we will be.

ways Wendy’s “natural-cut” fries might have been naturally cut

—in a freak accident (picnic, lightning)

—as neither nature nor art could contrive, but as only happens when they unite together, when nature's chisel puts its final touch to the often unintelligently heaped up labour of man

—by an artist who, like the God of the creation, remains within or behind or beyond or above his handiwork, invisible, refined out of existence, indifferent

—deus a machina

— slice-of-life

I saw this bone shaped rug at Mellwood Art Center a few days ago. I think I might have helped design it.
I used to repair antique rugs at a shop in town, and one day the owner asked me if I could draw a dog bone shape, as a pattern for dog bowl rugs. I hesitated. I do have a BFA in drawing. Summa Cum Laude. But I didn’t particularly study the dog bone shape. And I wasn’t sure what I getting into. I said I can give it a try, and I guess it was good enough, because they made some. And on my day off one of the staff called me and asked if I knew where the dog bone pattern was—they needed it to make some more rugs. I didn’t know where it was, but wondered if they had tried tracing one of the finished ones? That seemed to solve the problem.

There’s a place here in Louisville called the Mellwood Art Center and I was looking at old records there when I got interested in trying to make them as jewelry. It took me a long time to get the kind of look I wanted.
