It is with a heavy heart that I’m (officially) announcing that Alternate Universe will be forever closing our doors after 8 wonderful years, this coming late August. This decision was spurred on by our landlord (Redcar Properties), who failed to bring new tenants to the property at 1498 W Sunset, and kicked out the only remaining month-to-month tenant, Sunset Beer Company, last month. Ultimately, my family is moving this Summer to be closer to our extended family, who are all on the East Coast, specifically Atlanta.

I would like to thank the Echo Park community, who so warmly welcomed our shop and supported us throughout the years and especially during COVID. Getting to know all of you, watching your kids grow up before our eyes, and hosting events here at the shop has been such a sincere pleasure! I’m going to miss seeing and talking with you all, and I hope our shop lived up to our mission of serving the comic, game and toy community of Eastside Los Angeles.

Finally, I’d like to thank all of our staff present and past for being the absolute best comic shop staff in the world. Bob, Logan, Thor, Jesse, Kevin, Adam, Ash, Mick, Alex and of course Manus; I honestly could not have done it without your loyalty, trust and willingness to work when we needed you most. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We’re still open for another month and a half, so please come by to say hello or farewell! We will have everything on sale, and feel free to make offers on anything you really want.

My heart is full, with better memories, better actions, and the best of friends. I will miss you all. ❤️ 💙 💛
