ERTE HARPER'S BAZAAR COVERS Romain de Tirtoff, who called himself Erté, was born in St. Petersburg and moved to Paris in 1912 to work in fashion. He briefly collaborated with couturier Paul Poiret. In 1915 he signed a contract with Harper's Bazaar and began his long relationship with Harper's Bazaar, during which time he created over 240 covers for the magazine. [ 176 more words ]
