If you want to continue waking up every morning believing that there are people genuinely trying to make this world a better place, then we need to pray, speak up, and take action to ensure that the direction of our country changes. We cannot allow our future to be shaped by authoritarian leadership, criminal behavior, or people who use their positions of power to intimidate, divide, and undermine the values we should stand for.
Yes, we need to make gas, groceries, housing, and education affordable. But we also need to take responsibility for protecting our planet, preserving our environment, and getting back to the basics of being human. We need to remember that everyone is going through something, and that a little kindness, compassion, and understanding can make an enormous difference. It’s really not that difficult.
When elected representatives and influential people suggest that violence, threats, hatred, and name-calling are acceptable, we have a responsibility as a community to draw the line. We cannot normalize this behavior, excuse it, or simply look the other way.
We need to get back on track. We need to rebuild relationships with our allies, restore respect for our institutions, and work toward becoming a country that leads through compassion, integrity, strength, and decency.
Most importantly, we need to remember that the future of this country belongs to all of us. We may not agree on everything, but we should all be able to agree that kindness matters, truth matters, and how we treat one another matters.
It’s time to find our way back to the country we know we can be.
