Yesterday, the trucks came and hauled away the Big Kid to store away. Never realized how much my heart would hurt when I saw that truck drive away. Wanted to say farewell, one more time, to the thousands of people who came to our aid and defense, trying to save a place that simply made people happy. And to all of our customers that supported The Big Kid for so many wonderful years. There is a very special place in my heart for ALL of you, your children, your friends, your out of town relatives that you brought in, etc. To ALL of you, we love you and willl see you in our dreams! Thanks for the 12 wonderful years!

When The Big Kid first opened, there was a group of men who used to go to Nat's after their morning softball game. They would then come to visit the store. We would stand around for hours talking about everything from sports to relationships. Morty, the ringleader (pictured here) was one of the most generous, loving characters I've ever met, not to mention "fall down" funny. To Morty, Ralph, Larry, Peter, Howie, Skip and any others I might of missed, thank you for making us laugh, cry and for being the absolute best guys on the planet. I will miss you guys and the time we had together terribly!

Thank you Dave Levy for sharing Big Kid with us all these years. Big Kid was a time machine that brought back all the fun of being a child in the mid 20th century. The coolest stuff! We'll miss your store.

During the first six months of having the store, the Daily News was kind enough to run a story about Big Kid. The photo on the cover was of me teaching this little 3 year old boy how to play rod ice hockey. (you can't see him but he's standing right next to me to my right. I will post the photo later today) That 3 year old boy is now 14 and poses here with me and the photo we took 11 years ago

My buddy Julian presents me with the absolute BEST going away gift ever!!! He made me this extremely cool dinosaur! Man am I going to miss Julian and ALL of my bite size peeps. They always put a smile on my face and made every single day at the Kid worth going to. Thanks Julian!

Hard to imagine that this is all going to be a sweet dream she grew up with.
Dave, Jill and Toby and Nick; you have made our lives so retro. What I mean by retro, you were a local shop keeper that inspired reflection on days gone by. Your home of a store will be longed for, for many many years to come.
