The Council Shop Charitable project of NCJWLA with 7 LA-area thrift shops and 1 West Adams Donation Center! Donations & purchases help LA women & families thrive.

The first NCJW|LA Council Thrift Shop opened in 1924 to serve immigrants coming to Los Angeles and was stocked with useful household items. Visit us often to explore and discover your next treasure at Council Thrift Shops.Your donations of gently-used clothing, jewelry, furniture, art, housewares, and accessories help you recycle your items while at the same time providing others with affordable goods. The revenue generated by your donations serves thousands of women, children, and families in need throughout the Los Angeles community.Council Thrift Shops are the key funding source for NCJW/LA. The net income from Council Thrift Shops contributes over 77 percent of NCJW/LA’s operating budget. These dollars help provide programs and services for over 12,000 individuals each year.In addition to knowing that your generosity is helping to fund our much needed work, you receive the additional benefit of the valued Council Thrift Shops donation appraisal receipt. We are the only thrift shop in Los Angeles that provides an itemized receipt that adheres to IRS rules, making it easier for you to deduct your donations as a charitable expense. In 2009 the influential Los Angeles Magazine named Council Thrift Shops as the best thrift shop appraisal valuation in the city.
