Firefighter of the month!! 😅 This was an unexpected honor to be nominated for. A 9 year journey to getting hired and now 9 years on the LAFD. I’m thankful for the lessons learned along the way the people that came along side me to peruse this career path.

📣Introducing October’s Firefighter of the Month: Firefighter/Paramedic Allen Janzen at Fire Station 102.
Janzen’s path to the LAFD is a testament to perseverance. After discovering his passion for the fire service at age 10, he spent nine years preparing, joining the Cadet program, working as an EMT and paramedic, serving on Crew 3, and teaching future medical professionals while applying through multiple hiring freezes.
He was hired at age 27, bringing more than 15 years of paramedic experience to the Department. Today, he serves , where he mentors paramedic interns and continues to advance his training as an instructor.
Janzen is also the founder of Firefighter Crafted, a firefighter-made shop that supports injured, disabled, and fallen firefighter families.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to help people in desperate situations,” Janzen emphasized. “It’s a career that I’m truly passionate about.”
