We’ve entered Buddhist year 2569, a sacred time celebrated across Thailand, Sri Lanka, Laos, and Cambodia. This beautiful new year is marked with prayers, temple visits, and water blessings—rituals that honor purification, renewal, and spiritual clarity.

May this season bring peace to your heart, clarity to your mind, and compassion to your spirit.

Hi I’m Soudavone, I’m a certified Yoga Teacher, a Reiki Master from Thailand, a performing artist, actor, model, athlete, martial arts baddie, entrepreneur, speaks 5 language, and first gen and eldest immigrant daughter, a Lao refugee, and first in my ancestry to be raised in the United States. It sounds like I’m writing a bio for a program lol. But I wanted to write that just to see how I feel after writing, because imposter symptoms and self doubt is my biggest epidemic. lol.

Someone once said to me “you always talk about your successes, “ like it was an insult. Yes, I do, because look at me lol. I came from poverty, yet here I am a shiny super star lol. IYKYK. Hate me because I know and also don’t know what I bring to the table at the same time.

And also- do you know how often secrets to success are gate kept from marginalized communities making us feel like basic s**t is impossible? When we speak up and share our stories, our hows, our whys, our struggles, when we speak up about our ups and downs in finances etc openly, we actually model to others how to overcome and achieve their dreams. We help each other to overcome shame the system has hammered into us so that we can reclaim the power the “they’ve” taken from us! When we share openly- we help create deeper communities.

So catch me owning my s**t, besties!

Repost from: : The devastation from the recent wildfires has shaken up our city and caused immense grief for us. Multi-generational homes and businesses destroyed, lives lost, and many working class BIPOC families scrambling to find housing and jobs after losing everything. There have been multiple Mayumi vendors affected by the fires directly and we want to do everything we can to help.

The wildfires in Los Angeles serve as a reminder of the resilience and compassion our communities hold. With our next AAPI market coming up, a majority of our participating artists and vendors will be donating a generous percentage of their sales towards wildfire disaster relief and rebuilding via organizations as well as direct gofundme to families.

We hope to provide a positive place to be in community, eat, dance, and shop from small local businesses and artists that will be giving back. We will also have a Community Exchange booth where patrons and vendors can donate unique art, accessories, and home goods for those starting over. Clothing will be accepted but please don’t bring anything you wouldn’t wear!

Please consider inthe coming months and years of rebuilding to be extra mindful of supporting small businesses in your community over the big corporations whenever possible. Small businesses get hit hard during disasters and are working with a much smaller margin.

We are seeing small businesses prioritizing community over profit and making themselves more vulnerable. So whether you’re shopping for donations or for yourself or Valentine’s gifts, consider a small business or artist over Amazon, etc

In moments of adversity, we find our greatest strength in unity. Together, we will rise and overcome.
With love and resilience, Mayumi Market

This article is from Mangda from Bacii’s feature in Architectural Digest. Mangda Sengvanhpheng is an artist, death doula, and the founder of BACII - a platform that focuses on loss and grief while providing services and offerings that renew our engagement to life. Her life and death work is guided by her Lao last name, which means “the light of the full moon.” Mangda’s work has been featured in many outlets such as Vice, Vogue, and NY Magazine.

I am excited to share that I have been working on a special collaboration with Mangda from Bacii, bringing together our shared passion as healers.

For this BACII x MAGIXSTYX collab we introduce Lament : A Grief Incense.

LAMENT: /ləˈment/ an expression of loss

Ingredients: Black Storax, Frankincense, Black Hollyhock, Sticky Rice, Lily, Sandalwood, Himalayan Cedar

Grief is a universally shared experience across time, cultures, and hearts. Lament, our specially crafted grief incense, blends seven specific elements from around the world, each chosen for its healing properties to help you through all forms of loss. Black Storax cleanses and protects, Frankincense invites deep reflection, and Black Hollyhock brings ancestral blessings. The delicate fragrance of Lily offers hope, while sticky rice symbolizes the enduring bonds we hold dear. Sandalwood provides comfort, and Himalayan Cedar embodies resilience and peace.

Together, these global ingredients forms a poetically soothing fragrance that transcends borders, uniting us all in our mourning. Wherever you are in your grief, let Lament be your guide and your comfort.
