It’s been really interesting the psychological effect of having this little handmade corn Dolly hanging by my front door. I hadn’t expected it to be that significant to me to be honest - just a cute bit of folk craft. But every-time I see it, it makes me smile - it represents what I’m doing at untamed in more ways than I could have realized.
A reminder that we are still connected to the rhythms of the seasons. A connection to the past, the comfort of continuing ancestral lineage, a sense of place & home identity, heritage, and that I got to make it on my porch, learning alongside friends.
It’s made me realize just how important the presence of all of this is in our lives in terms of grounding and protecting us.

Most of my posts are about accurately (as poss)
reclaiming traditional Celtic and British Isles folk-craft and spiritual practice, but this is another value I hold deeply.

Folk practice, ceremony and ritual have always been ways of responding to the world we find ourselves in. Tradition gives us knowledge, context and roots, but folk practice was never meant to be frozen in time.

I believe each generation should also create its own rituals, ceremonies and magic in response to the world we now live in, rooted in a thoughtful understanding of our own cultural and ancestral roots, rather than stealing carelessly from someone else’s.

When we create new folk traditions, we aren’t abandoning traditions, we are participating in the tradition of creating ceremony

What rituals will you leave for the folk who come after you?

When you live a life authentically aligned with the values you speak. When you live in the brutal and discomforting honesty of deconstruction. When you decenter patriarchy, capitalism and colonialism. When you push back against toxic individualism and believe in the village.
When you resist supremacy models and believe the world could be a better place for all if more of us simply decided to stop participating and upholding systems that are rooted in human, animal, and planet suffering.
It starts small.

Ignore my heatwave aesthetic. 😅

I’ve spent a really joyful afternoon making three moon wreaths for clients, gathering flowers, moss and other natural elements, then letting the flow of each piece dictate the outcome.

I love that every moon wreath ends up slightly different, much like every meadow has its own unique configuration. No two are ever quite the same.

I don’t think I’ve ever made two that looked alike, and I hope I never do.
