A lithophane is a thin piece of translucent material (traditionally porcelain, now often 3D-printed plastic) that reveals a detailed image when light shines through it.

The picture isn’t printed in color — it’s created by varying thickness:
• Thinner areas let more light through → appear lighter
• Thicker areas block more light → appear darker

When backlit (like in front of a window or with an LED light), the hidden image becomes visible.
