Somehow, in a blue state with far more registered Democratic voters than Republican, with a sitting Democratic governor and a deeply unpopular Republican President and equally unpopular fascist agenda, the Democratic Party has once again managed to put itself at risk of pulling defeat from the jaws of victory in Tuesday's gubernatorial primary. Until we break this monopoly duopoly, the two-party platform as performed by the Talking Heads will forever remain "same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same. as. it. ever. was..."

The 78th year of the ongoing Palestinian Nakba is marked by nearly 73,000 dead (a likely undercount) and nearly 173,000 injured in Gaza alone since October 2023, not including thousands more in the West Bank. And now the genocide, like the contagious virus that it is, has spread to Lebanon where it has killed over 3,300 and wounded more than 10,000 in just the past three months. The symptoms have already arrived on US soil and we can expect a full blown outbreak shortly unless we stop this infection at patient zero: Israel.

to this day in 1830, when President Andrew Jackson signed The Indian Removal Act into law, resulting in the forced expulsion of more than 60,000 Native Americans from their ancestral homelands in the newly formed Southeastern United States to allotted lands west of the Mississippi River. More commonly known as the Trail of Tears, the forced round-ups and removals resulted in widespread disease, illnesses, starvation, and thousands of deaths. Not even including what is likely to be an even more abhorrent civilian to soldier death ratio in the 21st century (thanks in no small part due to Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon), the fact is that it's safer to be a soldier than a civilian during wartime. So by all means, let us honor the dead. But we prefer to honor the victims of war, not the perpetrators of it.

The day is not far off when our corporate overlords will drop even the pretense of providing any product or service at a fair price and will just have their AI bots dip directly into our bank accounts to seize their randomly accessed fees, "convenience" charges, and unasked-for upgrades. Come to think of it, after looking at our Charter Spectrum internet bill with a "Payment Processing" charge of $10.00 plus a "Paper Bill Statement Charge" of $5.00, that day may already be here.

As the world marks the 78th year of the Nakba ("catastrophe"), Israel continues its daily assault of Palestinians both in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as its assault (and kidnapping and torture) of international civilians of the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters. Israel's assault on international law and human decency may continue with impunity from the colonizing collaborators of the Western World, but good people of conscience around the world know differently.
