This Saturday is Atomic Basement & Modica’s Bizarre Bizaar happening at Modica’s Deli on the corner of Ocean and Linden from 12-6.

We have an eclectic lineup of arts and crafts there for you and did I mention COMICS?!

It’s a big week this week and we will have all the new releases as we as a great selection of half off comics and goodies in store for you.

Join Modica’s and Atomic Basement in welcoming two great new vendors to our Holiday Bizarre Bazaar happening December 10 from 12 to 6:00 on the patio of Modica’s Deli (corner of Linden and Ocean).

Introducing who specializes in lots of fun and beautiful accessories such as her popular Ostrich Feather Wrist Cuffs, a dazzling addition to any holiday outfit ensemble and , a wonderfully curated clothing boutique with beautiful clothing from around the globe!

Maral Designs actually has a store next to Modica’s for further holiday shopping, but she will also be joining us on the patio for additional holiday fun!

While this project began as a “pop up comic shop” and there will certainly still be that element, our vision for the Bizarre Bazaar is to offer holiday shoppers a unique introduction to small businesses and craft makers of all kinds so you can find something special for your friends, family and loved ones and have an alternative to mall shopping (which is just so fun two weeks before the big day!) and online ordering (especially with how unpredictable mail has become). You get to see what you’re getting right there and then and walk away with the gifts and, if you do it right, a belly full of Modica’s famous pastrami and maybe a glass of fine vino! Happy Holidays!!!

Saturday, December 10th! The Holiday Shopping season will be in full swing and Atomic Basement is teaming up with our friends at Modica’s Deli to bring you the first ever annual BIZARRE BAZAAR!

There will be comics and graphic novels!! Artwork and artists, photography and fun crafts for the whole family!

Featured guests and items include the STILL LIFE coffee table photo book featuring the unique photography of Maggie St. Thomas, LGBTQ artwork and graphic novels of Bradley Rader, a hilarious erotic alphabet book by Chris Brandt and free arts and crafts table with the fine folks from MAKERSVILLE!

We still have room for 3 or 4 more guests, so if you have items you think would make for great gift giving, drop me a line here and let me know what you would like to bring!

This event is happening on Saturday, December 10 from noon to 6:00 pm and is free to the public. See you there!

I will be helping him broker three original pages every Sunday! Here are the first three:

All of these pieces were treasured by Brad and he’s written commentary about each one. Very interesting to read an artists perspective on art.

Friendly reminder!! Orsa, owner of family restaurant Modica’s and I have cooked up an evening full of exciting sights and sounds and flavors! I am not exaggerating when I say it literally is a THREE RING CIRCUS!!

First, from 5:30 to 6:30, Intergalactic Space Queen ARTHERIA (as portrayed by Mia Bunn) will be taking a short break from her space hopping adventures to pose for any artist that wants to participate in our Drink N Draw! Show up early because she has to leave for the Nebula System strictly by 6:30!

Next, delight to the critically acclaimed sounds of flamenco virtuoso ASHUN! This guy is so great that Eddie Van Halen used to hire him for his house parties and special events!

“Did somebody say Van Halen?” Sez Rafael Navarro! “Well, hell, Chief, I best start packing my bags so I can see y’all there! This just in! Raf will have a table and selling his latest and greatest Sonambulo 25th Anniversary Hardcover, and, if I know him, probably taking commissions as well!

Those are the Three Rings of the Circus! But, sniff, sniff! What smells so good? Aromas of garlic, tomatoes, melting butter, cheese and boiling pasta! That’s gotta be the work of those magical alchemists in the kitchen making every dish with love and care!

Oh, and before I forget, little old me will be there too with my Atomic Basement Pop Up Shoppe with hundreds of comics to choose from!

Showtime is 5-9 at 455 E. Ocean Blvd on the corner of Ocean and Linden. Parking is metered but pretty affordable. See you there!!!

This Saturday!

Long Beach is gonna be POPPIN’ for the Second Saturday Art Walk!

The fun starts at 3:00 at as Morris Day sits down for an intimate Q&A and autograph session. He’s just released his retirement album and going on his final tour so this is a unique opportunity to see him and let him know how much you appreciate him.

Then, we take a quick dip into Helada Art Gallery for their mini Oktoberfest Celebration. There’s nothing better than sausage and bier in Oktober!

Then, at 5:00, we hit Modica’s for our second Atomic Basement Pop Up Residency show!

I’m bringing a bunch of comics, more copies of the hit books “E is for Erotica” and live art models “The Galaxy Sisters” real sisters that are truly out of this world!

Bring your art supplies and paper. Modica’s covers the tables with paper too in case folks want to draw for the restaurant and public!

Everything kicks off at Fingerprints at 3 pm on 420 E. 4th Street and winds up at Modicas on the corner of Ocean and Libden! See y’all there! Viva la comics and legalize marinara!!!
