Developing beef advocates and leaders for the cattle industry is the goal of the Collegiate Beef Advocacy Program. Hosted by American National Cattlewomen, Inc. (ANCW), the advocacy program provides an outlet for students to use their unique strengths to connect with consumers and peers to promote beef.

Feeling like it is impossible to get involved in agriculture?

Here are some of my favorite ways to get your start in the agriculture industry ⬇️

My top three tips I wish someone would have told me:

Business cards- always follow up, but remember it’s not what they can do for you, but what you can do for them. Brainstorm ways you can be a valuable asset, in the future you never know where that can take you.

Have an open mind. Think of ways an opportunity can build a singular tool in your “toolbox”. I got my start in the Sugar Beet industry, which led me to finding my passion for Beef!

There is power in a Thank you Card. Write them well, and write them often :)

Wait…beef is used in what? 👀

When you think of beef you may think of a juicy steak or cattle out grazing in pasture, but what if we told you there are many other by-products you use in your everyday life that come from beef! ⬇️

From sports gear to beauty products, the options are endless, here are some popular by-products.

It is to be noted very little of a beef animal is wasted. It is truly fascinating to see how we use these products in our day to day lives, next time you throw a football with friends or maybe even play a tune on your violin, you can now think of beef! 🥩

Meet Katie Kixmiller of K Squared Cattle Company in Indiana! From starting with just a few cattle to building her own direct-to-consumer beef operation, Katie is proof that passion and perseverance can build something meaningful. As a fourth-generation farmer, she continues to carry on the values of hard work, faith, and determination that agriculture instilled in her from a young age. Katie is also the chair for the ANCW National Beef Ambassador Program!

Her advice to future producers? Starting small is still starting somewhere. Every step forward is a success. 🤠🥩
