To everyone asking about the history of Cardy's Sugar Bowl, the information is included below. I (Nikki) originally wrote it for my daughter's school project, and have since tweaked it and added to it. Some of the information was relayed to me and some was researched by me.

To everyone asking about the future of Cardy's Sugar Bowl - This store has been in our family for roughly 100 years and more than anything, we want to continue the legacy. We have had many sleepless nights trying to consider every possible scenario to carry on, but in the end, unfortunately none will work. We are incredibly saddened to say that Cardy's will not re-open.

We want to THANK YOU, each and every one of you - young and old, near and far - for all of the love and support you have shown our family throughout the many, many years. We are grateful for your loyalty and patronage to this little candy store that meant so much to us. Whether you have been coming to Cardy's since you were born or have only experienced it once, know that you all hold a special place in our hearts. The memories that you have given us will never be forgotten.

Our hope is that, sometime, years down the road, whether you are enjoying an egg cream, lighting a smoke bomb, or nibbling on a Swedish Fish, you will be reminded of the old fashioned CRAZY candy store on Union Street and you will smile.

We are very thankful for all the love and support that you have shown our dad and family over the years.

Our words and our hearts cannot express the extreme gratitude we feel. We want to thank everyone for your outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Your prayers, beautiful flowers, candles, notes, heart-felt messages, and hundreds of stories and memories shared will always be appreciated and remembered. Thank you to everyone that paid your respects at the wake and funeral. It was nice to be able to reconnect with those we haven't seen in a while. Thank you to everyone that made a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Lodi in our father's memory. It is through all of these acts of kindness and generosity that we will find the strength to move forward.

Our father loved you all and we take great comfort in knowing that he was so loved by all of you.
