Bon jour and Good Morning to you as we are blessed with another new day! If I haven't already had the pleasure of meeting you, I'm Donna, the owner and Proprietress of The Lady of the Locks in Lockport NY. If you haven't yet visited, I thought that I would tell you a little bit about the store and what I hope you will experience when you walk through the doors!
The Lady of the Locks is an antique store but I hope it is more than that. I've tried to create a peaceful and beautiful place that will transport you for a few moments out of the present and into the beauty of a bygone era. Vintage items tell a story of a time when elegance, beauty and craftsmanship were important in every day living. And when you surround yourself with beauty you elevate your everyday experience.
The Lady of the Locks is located at 52 Main Street on the corner of Pine Street in Lockport NY. Just look for the big pink sign and the crazy lace laden windows!!! May your day be filled with beauty! Open Thursday thru Sunday 11 till 5

Lace... what could be more beautiful and romantic!!! The art of lacemaking was an extraordinary skill practiced by many talented women until the industrial age when machines took over the task. The amount of time these women spent! Their patience and creativity are truly amazing. I can't get enough of it and the shop is dripping with it (which is obvious before you even walk in the door- note one of the windows in the last photo!)

Victorian isn't just about highly carved and fancy! Simple cupboards like this one were a very necessary part of the Victorian home. The "larder" was where you stored all the glorious food that you "put up" (canned) from the summer garden's harvest.

Lockport in Bloom, the annual Lockport Gardenwalk takes place tomorrow and Sunday, July 11th and 12th here in beautiful Lockport! ( Did I mention it's in Lockport!?) The Kenan Center, 433 Locust Street, is Gardenwalk Central where you can get your map of all the beautiful gardens that will be at their loveliest! And while you're here, take a walk back in time at The Lady of the Locks!
