Cool Water Ripple Books is an independent book publishing house.

Our mission is to foster a universal passion for reading by partnering with authors to help create stories and communicate ideas that inform, entertain, and inspire, and to connect them with readers everywhere. We are an international home to nearly 400 editorially and creatively independent publishing imprints.

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is safe from the craziness that is known as 2020.

Last year "Molly the Manatee" was turned into a musical in NYC. Tomorrow, July 17th, "Molly" will be read live on the "Save the Manatee Club" page at 11am.

Bring your kids, grandkids, great grandkids, random kids in the neighborhood (get permission first) and go to the Save the Manatee Club page.
I'll be in the comments thread...

Donate, if you're so inclined, let's save a few manatees!

The world's a magical place....

Just returned from NYC where the first open showing of "Molly the Manatee the Musical" was presented...

Absolutely surreal, absolutely magical, abosolutely wonderful.

So proud of Polly, Brian, and Sean, plus the choreographer Megan Doyle (also, the tap dancing turtle) and the entire crew of performers who brought a little idea, that was hatched over dinner, 6 years ago to life.... keep on swimming upstream, dreams do come true!

In less than a month; this book, the one that began with a friend's whimsical idea about "writing a children's book", continued through the completion on a flight returning from Ireland in 2014, set off in fits and spurts searching for one illustrator, then another and finally landing in the incredible hands of Liza Donovan. This book becomes a musical in New York City.
So there's that.

A special thanks to Polly Hilton and Brian Dratch for taking "Molly" adding a bit of dream dust; then writing and scoring the musical... congrats you two!

Angel Fund

Because many of my books deal with animals, a suggestion had been made that somehow I tie-in books and veterinarians. And so, it has begun.

I recently met a veterinarian (Dr. Karen Miller) and her husband at a show. I had formulated an idea and pitched it to them. They loved the idea and now Cool Water Ripple Books is in Lincolnton Animal Hospital selling books and helping animals. https://lincolntonanimalhospital.com/

This is how it works. Most veterinarians have a fund called “The Angel Fund”. This fund goes to help provide veterinarian care (VC) to either pets of owners who find VC unaffordable or to lost pets in need of VC with no owner to pay. It’s a fund, a jar generally located near the checkout area, that is purely voluntarily. So, what we are doing is selling our books to the Lincolnton Animal Hospital for a reduced price and they sell them to folks who would like to help and would like a nice book.

The first day after setting up the book stand; 3 books were sold. We even received a “thankyou letter” from one of the customers. We are still testing this to make sure everything is seamless in implementation. We are also going to do readings and hope to partner with local schools to have them come visit their local Veterinarian.

When you’re in your vet next time checkout to see if they have an angel fund jar. Slip a couple of bucks in the jar and then say something like “Hey, I know a guy…. (fill in the blank)”. And then point me in their direction.

That’s what’s happening now in our little world.
