Woke up to a blanket of snow this morning!
Good thing the guys are in the low country today.
This weeks Menu consists of:
- Aphids & Weevil
- Spraying Grass/W**ds out of conventional alfalfa
- RoundUp on RR Alfalfa
- Wild Iris, Whitetop & thistle out of pasture ground.
- Variable rate prescription map on pinion & juniper trees
- Sagebrush treatment.
- Rangeland Seeding

It is a full week and a lot to digest, grateful to have options. Only in Utah if the weather is bad in one area we can just adjust and go somewhere else.

Worldly events are hurting our farmers acrossed the country.
Diesel prices & Fertilizer prices are crippling.
We have a short window to save money on Fertilizer.
This is not a sales pitch this is me trying to extend some saving to my growers.
Let’s hope things can settle before to long.

Utah weather is keeping us on our toes this year. We’ve had a very dry winter and now we’re already seeing 60–70° days and it’s only the beginning of March.

Winter grains and pasture grasses waking up and greening up early. Warmer temperatures signal plants to start growing, but it doesn’t mean winter is finished with us yet.

In parts of Utah and our surrounding states a late freeze is still very likely.

So what does this mean for growers and producers?

🌱 Fertilizer
Early green up means plants are actively growing and beginning to use nutrients. A light, well timed fertilizer application can help support early growth, but keep in mind that cold snaps may slow things down again. Split applications are often the safest strategy this time of year.

🌾 W**d Control
Warm temperatures can trigger early w**d emergence. If w**ds are present and actively growing, early herbicide applications can be effective. Pre emergents, RoundUp and 2,4-D are great herbicides we would just want to check the overnight lows for 48 Hours after the application.

🌿 Planting Spring Grasses:

While soil temperatures may start trending upward, the risk of frost and freeze events is still high. Planting too early can expose young seedlings to damage. Many producers wait until soil temperatures are consistently in the ideal range before planting.

❄️ Will we freeze again?
Almost certainly. Early spring in Utah often comes with warm days followed by cold snaps. The key is making management decisions that allow flexibility if temperatures swing back.

The takeaway:
Early green up is a great sign, but patience and strategic timing will protect your crop and pasture investment.

Hey do you grow corn? Have you scouted for Spider Mites?
I am running a flash sale between July 7th - July 15th.
Typically we charge $20 an acre for 5 Gallon work… book between now and the 15th and we will applicate at $17.50 per acre.
The drones really shine in spider mite applications. The thrust and the vortex it creates really gets the pesticide underneath the leaf where the mites like to live.
There are a ton of studies showing how the drone application is superior to other applications.
