Functional Floors and Finishing was started in 2004 as a “Jack of all trades” flooring company. As we grew we soon found the importance and advantages of specializing. We focused on our strengths, interest and talent among our workforce in order to narrow our flooring services. This specialization has allowed us to provide our customers the absolute highest quality and expertise in hardwood floor

refinishing, hardwood floor installation, vinyl floor installation as well as exceptional customer service. We feel it is very important to put a lot of our efforts toward earning the trust, long term loyalty, and referrals from our customers.

We just wrapped up this installation. This home got a major upgrade with Paramount Signature WPC vinyl flooring in High Top Manor. It’s a great, durable color that completely brightens up the space.

A big challenge is matching flooring with the stairs. The 1970's standard nosing looks, well... dated. To solve that, we custom-manufactured matching vinyl stair treads right in our shop using the exact same flooring material.

We didn't stain this floor—we reacted it! 🧪✨

This gorgeous, weathered gray was achieved using Iron Acetate, a natural wood-reactive solution. Instead of laying pigment on top of the wood, it reacts with the natural tannins inside the oak to change the color from the inside out.

The result? A completely custom, rich gray that highlights the natural grain perfectly without ever looking "painted."
