We're so excited to introduce you to the FIRST official member of our athlete crew, Abby Moore!
We met Abby at a competition in Colorado last year and were immediately impressed and inspired by her discipline and commitment to grow in the sport of CrossFit at such a young age while still trying to balance being a normal teen outside of the sport. We knew right away that we wanted to follow along in her journey and support her however we could. We caught up with Abby to get her perspective on what it's like to compete at the CrossFit games as a teenager and what her plans are for the future.
✴️How old are you?
I am 15 years old, turning 16 in March.
✴️How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it?
I have been doing CrossFit for about 4 years, and I started because I saw my parents doing it and it looked really fun and hard, so my only birthday wish that year was to do an open workout.
✴️How did it feel to qualify and compete at the CrossFit Games last year?
Qualifying for the CrossFit Games was the most incredible experience of my life! I really proved to myself that I belonged in the CrossFit community, and I was capable of being one of the top athletes.
✴️What are your plans for competing in the future?
I plan to continue competing in the new age group this year, and hopefully make it back to the games!
✴️What other passions or interests do you have?
I swim for my high school swim team.
✴️What advice would you give to a teen athlete looking to advance in the sport?
My advice would be to have as much fun as you can and find people to workout with! Surround yourself with people that are better than you, and remember you are still a teenager and you don’t have to take CrossFit that seriously! Hang out with your friends and do other sports too. You don’t have to have your entire life revolve around it when you’re young!!
➡️Go give Abby a follow and let's cheer her on this season. Go Abby!
